What is a HEX code?

HEX is the hexadecimal notation for web colors, written as #RRGGBB. Each pair is the value for red (R), green (G) and blue (B) from 00 to FF (0 to 255). Example: #FF5733 is a reddish orange.

What's the difference between RGB and CMYK?

RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is the additive system used by screens — each channel from 0 to 255. CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) is the subtractive system used in print — each channel in percent. Since CMYK has a smaller gamut, some RGB colors do not have an exact printed equivalent.

HSV or HSL: which one to use?

HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) and HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) describe color via hue, saturation and brightness/lightness. HSL is more intuitive for themes (light/dark), HSV is more useful in visual pickers. Both share the same hue axis (0-360°).

How does the eyedropper work?

The eyedropper button uses the browser's EyeDropper API to capture any color on screen (from another tab, app or image). Available on Chrome 95+, Edge 95+ and Opera 81+. If the button is hidden, your browser doesn't support it yet.

Are picked colors saved on any server?

Accepted Answer

No. All processing and conversion happens locally in your browser. No color is sent to ToolboxHub or third-party servers — it works offline once the page is loaded.

Can I use the picker with the keyboard?

Accepted Answer

Yes — all fields (HEX, RGB, etc.) can be focused via Tab. The visual palette and hue slider have proper ARIA roles for screen readers; clicking/dragging is still the fastest way to pick the right color.
